Happy New Year!

It's 2013 and it's going to be a good year!

We got a fully equipped handicap van for Thomas and we are so excited! We thought we'd start by taking somewhere for a short period of time to see how he did. Brian took him on his first outing to a shopping mall to do some Christmas shopping. The first thing Thomas wanted to do was have orange chicken at Panda Express!!! 

Since his first trip went so well, we planned to bring him home for Christmas and/or his birthday but he had to go to a wound care facility, Kindred Hospital, to treat a pressure wound on his foot. He was there about three weeks; over the holidays and his birthday. He was released to go back to Villa Las Palmas on Monday, January 7th. We are now planning to bring him to the house for a couple hours. We have to make sure he will be ok with just visiting and then returning to Villa.

We are really looking forward to this new chapter in our lives!

New Ride for Thomas

Last week Thomas finally got his new wheel chair. It was custom fitted for him! 

Graduation Day

Yesterday my niece graduated from Charter high school. She was selected to present the class reflections and did a great job. It was such an emotional day; the last time I sat at the Balboa Park Organ Pavilion was at Thomas's high school graduation. As I watched the graduates walk across the stage to receive their diplomas I remembered Thomas walking across the stage over 10 years ago.

What I'm Reading

I am a BzzAgent and I just received the Kindle Fire version of "The Hangman's Daughter" and "The Dark Monk: A Hangman's Daughter Tales" by Oliver Pötzsch for free. I am really looking forward to reading them both and I will keep you posted on my progress. 

Timeshare time

Brian and I are enjoying time at our Timeshare in Oceanside this week. The weather hasn't cooperated much, so no pictures to share just yet. Hopefully we will get at least one sunny day but it looks like its suppose to rain by Thursday.
