Thomas Vogt - 1/4/83 - 9/12/13

I have been without words to describe how I feel about losing Thomas. We were so excited that he was finally going to come home to live with us.

I wanted to thank everyone that has been right there with us for the last 6 1/2 years. Thomas had so many family, friends and strangers that would visit him, many prayer groups praying for him and friends and family that couldn't visit but would be thinking of him each and every day. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. We couldn't have gotten as far as we did without all of you.

While I know I must go on with my life, I struggle each day to make sense of this tragedy. I am not sure if I will keep this blog going. For now, you can view Thomas' obituary here: Obituary and I have started a tribute site here: Forevermissed.com.

Happy New Year!

It's 2013 and it's going to be a good year!

We got a fully equipped handicap van for Thomas and we are so excited! We thought we'd start by taking somewhere for a short period of time to see how he did. Brian took him on his first outing to a shopping mall to do some Christmas shopping. The first thing Thomas wanted to do was have orange chicken at Panda Express!!!

Since his first trip went so well, we planned to bring him home for Christmas and/or his birthday but he had to go to a wound care facility, Kindred Hospital, to treat a pressure wound on his foot. He was there about three weeks; over the holidays and his birthday. He was released to go back to Villa Las Palmas on Monday, January 7th. We are now planning to bring him to the house for a couple hours. We have to make sure he will be ok with just visiting and then returning to Villa.

We are really looking forward to this new chapter in our lives!

Graduation Day

Yesterday my niece graduated from Charter high school. She was selected to present the class reflections and did a great job. It was such an emotional day; the last time I sat at the Balboa Park Organ Pavilion was at Thomas's high school graduation. As I watched the graduates walk across the stage to receive their diplomas I remembered Thomas walking across the stage over 10 years ago.

Congrats to Nicole!

What I'm Reading

I am a BzzAgent and I just received the Kindle Fire version of "The Hangman's Daughter" and "The Dark Monk: A Hangman's Daughter Talesby Oliver P√∂tzsch for free. I am really looking forward to reading them both and I will keep you posted on my progress.
